The freezer in the basement

When people first learnt of Meg's illness, many of them kindly brought us dinners and offered to bring us dinners in the future, for which we thank you. With the family home for Christmas, and with Meg recovering rapidly from her surgery, we were well supplied with food in the short term.

We have now (thanks, Vicki, for the urging) bought a freezer, which is slowly filling up with peoples' kind donations. Radiation and chemotherapy are taking their toll on Meg, and Andrew is back at the lab, so we'd be happy to take you up on your kind offers at your convenience.

I'll add a few suggestions below: click on "read more" to so do.

A few suggestions for meals (others welcome):

  • Meg's mouth, due to the surgery, still doesn't open all that wide, though she has no difficulty chewing. She can barely accommodate a sliced bagel, and can eat a Lindt chocolate ball only if it's halved.
  • I'll keep a list on the blog (top right of page) of what's presently in the freezer, so you can gauge our state of readiness.
  • We eat almost anything, perhaps nothing too strongly spiced. Lots of protein will help Meg's body repair the ongoing radiation and chemotherapy damage.
  • Andrew can store food in the freezer at the lab, and bring it home in batches. Meg's home most mornings till 10:30, then is off to be irradiated and back by ~ 1 PM if you'd care to deliver (call 323-5929). Link to our address.
  • Food is best packaged in one or two two-person servings, and ideally comes with instructions!
  • Hutch people can consult Sue Amundsen or Jill Bolduc. Anyone can contact Andrew (E-mail or cell-phone 206-660-3592).
